(Another) Mansard Roof question, Removing the pointy bit

I have a Mansard Roof sitting nicely on the top of the wall. Two-cut plumb, Fascia 175mm and the base 959mm below the roof 'Level' (as its at 72 degrees pitch).

    Here's my roof:

I've tried for ages to get rid of the pointy bit at the top as it's unrealistically high. Adjusting the Cutoff Level, the roof either brought the inside face below the flat roof, or I get an error message telling me that the level cannot be below bottom of roof. (Eh? I'm working on the top of the roof, not bottom).

So I tried to make a roof void extrusion.

    Run it around the perimeter:

    Looks perfect:

Until I click Finish, then I get this error message.

Whilst it would be great if the top of a roof could have some similar 'Fascia' type controls, in the meantime any sage advice on what I'm doing wrong, or how to resolve this please?

Hi Damo, can you post a screenshot from your roof plan while you are in sketch mode please? I have an idea but I need to confirm if my guess are right, regards

hi, LOL , I wasn't clear sorry, I mean, can you tell me how did you model this, see picture, I guess that it must be a simple modification, I'm thinking about the "Define Slope" Box, I'm thinking that yours must be placed at the wrong side and if you try to just change the side for your define slope tool it may help, Regards

BTW, I did try an In-Place Void Form-> Void Extrusion already and got a similar error message.

My void extrusion was created in plan and extruded up to the reference line.
I see yours must have been done in section / elevation. Wonder if that makes a difference?

Is this simply not a case of measuring the distance from the level 03 Roof (New) to the ref plane above the flat roof and pasting that value in to the roof's cutoff offset instance parameter?

                    Hi Damo,

What I've do was: 1 Make a model of a roof with a similar shape of yours, so I obtained the same issue, 2. I Draw a RP and rename it, 3. Go to section and once there I go to Model in place>Roof, 4. Once the select your RP and create a void form, Finally you need to cut with the cut tool located in modify tab, Hope this help, regards
