    Ghost items in bound link?

In a project I first modeled an existing building with 3-4 ground levels 5-600 mm apart because of a lot of small changes in floors. I had this linked in to my new building but later decided to bind the link and keep the existing building as a group, managing it with phases. However in my new project I only have one ground level. All of the walls, windows etc kept their elevation so I just changed their base constraint to my new ground level and offset them. When I hover the group I can see some objects I suspect belonged to the old levels, like rooms.

I know I should have cleaned up my existing before binding it or recreate the levels but I didn't and now I've done too many changes to it to rebind it. Does anyone know how to find these ghost items and delete them? I tried recreating the levels in the new project too.

If when you select the group you can see a "restore all excluded" button this means you have stuff in the group that was removed from outside the group. This may have happened when you bound the link with elements that had nowhere to go.
If you need the missing things to come back try hitting the restore button (doesnt always work if for eg you have removed an elements host). If you just want to get rid of the ghosts then ungroup and regroup (without deselecting anything) under a new name and your exorcism should be complete.

There is a restore button yes, and I know a couple of roofs and stairs was excluded when binding. As well as a couple of ghost volumes(rooms I think) that sits outside of any model element.. These volumes produce a warning when I hit exclude. If I explode the group I can no longer group it, the button is greyed out. If I select the group in 3D and isolate it > explode > fix it so I can group again, will I lose any elements not visible in 3D view?

Firstly, can we please not use the word 'explode' in Revit, you will give me nightmares hahaha.

When i hit the ungroup button in Revit all my stuff is still selected unless i click empty space, hit esc button, start a command etc.
Ungroup/regroup will lose any attached detail groups.
Use a 3D view that has everything visible, select the group and type IE to isolate it. That way if things do deselect after ungrouping it simple to use a selection box on what you want.
