    Revit 2017.2 Odd Text Behavior

    Hi all,

I know that talk about Revit and text problems has been long discussed here and there is no much that we can do about it, nevertheless i want to share with this community some points about an Odd behavior I'm experiencing and which it seems don have a solution yet.

As already said I'm running Revit 2017.2 in win 10 Professional 64 BITS, Intel Core I7 - 7820 HK, CPU @ 2.90GHz CPU 2.90 GHz, 32 GB RAM DDR4 and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080.

So in theory all should work nice; but my Revit systematically crashes out when I'm in "Text edition mode" in a sheet, I mean I have a lot of sheets and some time I need to add some textual notes in some sheets but since I select any text the software closes the window and shows me an error message that just says that Revit needs to close, the odd thing is that Revit continues "Working" even with 0 sheets open, 0 views open, so I must use CTRL+ALT+SPR to close Revit and re open it.

The same thing happens when I open the view out of the sheet and try to edit the text, but when I do this is just the sheet that closes out, so I can continue to work.

Did any of you already experienced the same behavior? is there a solution for this since it seems that all the reports I've send to Autodesk doesn't have an answer yet, Thanks for your comments

That's a weird one. Do you have any add-in running that has anything to do with text?
I know I had an add-in running a while back (nothing to do with text) and that caused Revit to crash all the time, removed the add-in, problem gone.

Hi Robin and thank's for your reply, to be short NO I don't have any add in that has anything with the text tool.

I've noticed some bizarre things since I've installed Enscape but those were more about some parameters that kept locked once I opened Enscape, so with a quick close and re open the problem solved instantly, but since Enscape is more for the Render process I think that's not the problem.

I've recently installed a add in to control the "View Ports" called "Window Layout" but I've already noticed the problem before the installation of the mentioned Add in, regards

While not your exact issue, Ive had a couple of instances with revit 2017.2 crashing on workshared projects when using xrev addin.

It seemed to be a workset ownership issue, what fixed it was opening the worksets dialogue, ticking ALL the boxes (lower left) to show all families and everything else, ctrl+A to select everything and hitting the editable button to give myself ownership of the whole lot.
