creating General Notes (best practices/ efficient methods) 2017

i am looking to create General Notes for a project and possibly share those general notes between similar projects. i am looking for best practices and/or efficient methods others have used to create General Notes?

I would say not with text.

I’ve used both generic annotation symbols along with note blocks and keynotes for general notes with success.

I know it sounds lame, but I see no reason not to use typed notes on the sheet itself, those notes can be grouped and saved out as detail groups for other projects, they can also be "copy/paste/aligned" to multiple sheets at one time if needed.

Not lame, I think. This is what text is supposed to be for. Now that text works correctly since 2017, those other work-arounds (e.g. key schedules) are unnecessary.

I also think not lame. I keep all of my General Note individual items in a .txt file that contains lots of options so I just copy paste the appropriate notes to text in a drafting view in Revit and plunk the result on my cover sheet. About 1/2 of my Gnotes are static and the other half are dynamic. I never have to remember specific verbiage for the dynamic notes, just review the main text file and pick the paragraph that applies.
