    (Scheduling) Railing Hardware/Support & Handrails

    I've never paid stairs much attention

    ...but as I've just had a eureka moment to bestow upon our system families our "Spec Ref" SP, (which gets tied to <Keynote> in our component families by formula) so I can tie their <Keynote> using Dynamo (so we can tag our specification reference using a category tag)...

    Q. What gives with the "Railing Hardware" and "Railing Handrail" schedule types?

    Aside from "Hardware" actually being "Supports" (!?) neither seem to schedule anything.

    I've a railing, featuring both, right infront of me - and yes, my schedules aren't filtered, and are looking at the right phase (not that the Supports, sorry Hardware, schedule appears to respect phases)

    ...and yeah, I opened with "Stairs" so should probably also quiz about them.

    Anyone ever tried to schedule a Project Parameter applied to Stair Landings, Runs and/or Supports?

    You can certainly add one, and it'll show in the Types Properties, but it doesn't come up in the schedule's field list - at least not for me at the moment.


    ...perhaps Dynamo listing 2No. "Stairs - Supports" under it's category list is trying to tell me I should've left this can of worms in the shop.

      When you add the parameter expand stairs and make sure it is applied to the Supports / Runs / Landings (blue arrow), not just Stairs and you should be able to schedule it (green arrow.)

        Looks like it could be an issue with making the parameter 'Type' based... which would just be a nonsense. And nonsense comes as no surprise.

          you never know... i forget little things like that all the time :hide:

          not sure about the type vs instance though - never tried.

            Setting it to Instance won't work (for me) - not this time anyway, as I'm aiming to pair it to <Keynote> and (still) don't have the chops for mixing Type/Instance lists in Dynamo (yeah, I'm slack)

            Given my idea is working all fine and dandy on all the core/key categories I (really) need it to, and since I can't ever recall tagging a run (?) I'm quite content to put this on the backburner.

              The only difference I can see between ours is that you are using a shared parameter, but I just tried it and didn't have any issues...
