'A serious error has occurred' in families traced back to Shared Parameters

I have a window family that won't load into any project, even new ones, and traced the issue back to adding shared parameters. The first family I added these parameters to loaded into the project without any errors. I later tried to add these same parameters using the same shared parameter file and when loading got 'A serious error has occured' message.

Does this mean my Shared Parameter file is corrupted? Anyone know how to fix this?

    thanks for your help!

Not an expert in this area, but we did get our first major project file corruption recently that had to be repaired by Autodesk (Thank you Yuri Kim!). Our best understanding of the error was that I had been editing our major door family (1400+ instances) by changing some of the Shared Parameters around. I had changed a couple from Instance to Type - or perhaps the other way around. Loading the family in was OK, but within a short while all users were being thrown out.
(The project problem was solved by me back tracking to a previous version of the door family and loading that in.)

Now whether the problem was the parameter itself, the SP file, or the fact that I had changed pushed Instance/Type information to where it was not expecting it, I can't tell.
