We are working on a decent sized project, and have linked in the Architects model. Our model is a central file within our network (just in case that makes a difference), and the model they gave us is a central file within their network. The bigger the project gets, the slower the software moves. Is there any way to pare their model back to only what we need to work with, i.e. manipulate their worksets etc... Thanks ahead of time.

If you create the same Worksets that are within their model then you can speed things up by then turning them off. Find the content you don't need to work with, or only need to see in certain situations & create those corresponding Worksets. Same named Worksets can talk to each other from linked files. Another solution is also incorporating Categories of course. All these settings can be easier to deal with when utilizing View Templates for working purposes too.
Maybe removing all of their CAD/Revit Links can help too.

Have you done a SaveAs on their model and made a new Central on your server?
If all you did was copy their file to your server and Link it, it still looks for Central File info on their server and can waste a lot of time figuring out that the Central model can't be found.Dave Plumb
