    Dimesnioning Grids in Section

    Hello,
I have an issue with Revit 2017. I can dimension gridlines on plan. When I cut a section, I see the gridlines that means the section is cut perpendicular to the grid lines. For some reason when I pick the gridline to dimension, I get this barred symbol. Has anyone encountered this?
    Thank you

Select Pinned Elements turned on in your section views and your gridlines are pinned??
I'm retired, if you don't like it, go around!

Hello Thank you for the response,
      - Select pinned elements turned on and gridlines are pinned. But I also tried unpinning and dimensioning but still couldn't

Are you trying to dimension grid to grid in the section view? Or grid to modeled element? Perhaps the modeled element isn't orthogonal to the section view.

There is no error message, just the black 'barred' symbol. I am not even dimensioning to a modelled element, the moment I select dim and select the grid line I get the symbol aforementioned - Thanks

No error message, but just a black barred symbol - thanks

I believe the grid will still display in a section view even though it's not perfectly perpendicular to the view. I don't know what the cut-off is, but if the section view is off by, let's say .0002 degrees, the grid may still show. I would recommend drawing a detail line perpendicular to the grid in your plan view, and then use that as a reference for rotating the section view on plan.

Thanks, I have created a reference plane perpendicular and drew a section along, but still the same - thanks
