I am drawing a gable roof with a level ridge, level eaves, one side of roof rectangle (no problem). The other side is a trapezoid, which means the short side has a steeper pitch than the longer side with constantly varying pitches between. I drew the trapezoid part of the roof with "Roof by Footprint" (flat roof), then modified to get slope at short and long ends with, I think, "Modity Sub Elements." So far so good. Here is the rub. I want a two cut (square cut rafter cut eave) not the big clunky 12" plumb cut. No go. I have tried "Model Implace," to draw the whole trapezoid as an extrusion. I have tried "Sweep," "Swept Blend," "Void Forms," etc. I have gone back to pertinent sections of tutorials "Revit Architecture 2011 essential Training" Paul Aubin, Lynda, Infinite Skills "Learning Revit 2011" Jay Polding, "Autodesk Revit Architecture 2001 Tutorial Series" and finally the Utube series by Tu Graz, Marv Basha,Klaus Hyden & Phillip Muller. Additionally, I have attended about 12 Boston Revit learning Club sessions offered by Eric Boelke under the auspices of the BSA. (Erik said "that's a tough one.") After toughing it out, off and on for weeks with no success, I have to ask myself if this drawing program is worth the effort, when I can't even draw a simple shape like the one I have described. I am hopeful someone reading this may offer me a word of encouragement, so that I can convince myself I am not really going nuts. All this when I am see signs that busines is about to pick, and I'm stuck on this stupid program. Or am I really just stupid and crazy? Am I the only one that feels this level of frustration? is it really worth it? And how many tutorials, how many classes, how many frustations does one have endure before one can feel somewhat confident and competent with this tool.
