    Revit Pause after Open

When I open a file, of almost any size, Revit will pause for 10 seconds or so after seemingly being ready to work -- meaning, the mouse frees up for a fraction of a second, and then reverts back to a spinning disk and not responding shows up in the title bar. This doesn't seem right.

    Any thoughts?

Is this only happening on one computer?

Sounds like you might have an add-in loading, do you have any? Can you try removing all of them to see what happens?

Asking around and it's all computers. Thinking now it might be related to antivirus software.

This obviously won't help you but: Amusing anecdote:
Way back in the AutoWhatchamacallit days, we switched to a new Anti-Virus software and it KILLED our file open performance.
Turned out that .ico files were being tested for viruses every time a new DWG was opened.
And the .MNU files had tons of icons in them.
Once we excluded .ico, our open times went from minutes to seconds.

Yeah. I think it's something like that. Are those exclusions typically per workstation or controlled at the server level? I'm sure it depends, just looking for a place to start.
