Room separation lines in linked model interfering with my rooms

We have an architecture shell/core model that we received and we are doing an interior fit-out. The Arch model has room separation lines drawn in it and is linked into the Interior model. The interior model has its own partition walls and rooms, and they do not coincide with the architecture model's Room separation lines.

When i try to place a room in the interior model, it is being bounded by the linked model's room separation lines. I've turned off the lines and the rooms in the linked model, yet it still bounds. I've even gone into the arch model and turned off the lines and the rooms in a view, and linked specifically to that view, yet they still bound the interior room.

    anyone come across this?

I'm pretty sure models are either room bounding, or they are not. Rooms don't stop bounding in views where walls or room separation lines are turned off. I think your options are:
    • Select the Architecture model, turn off "Room Bounding" in type properties and add a room separation line for the exterior walls
    • Edit the Architecture model and delete the interior room bounding lines

      Additional options to consider:
      - Move the Room Separation Lines to a different workset. Either their own or another one that you already have turned off (Manage Links -> Manage Worksets).
      - Move the RSLs to a different phase and use phase mapping.

I agree with jmk with some additional input:

We normally work according to jmk's second option as you shouldn't be tracing/guessing where someone else's exterior walls' internal edges are and it IS work that requires judgement being made on someone else's model.

IDEALLY, and especially if it's a WIP and the shell and core designer continues to update their model and send you further iterations, you should ask THEM to delete the room separation lines BEFORE sending the model over and also have this task included in the BEP.

Room separation lines still bounding even when you turned off the workset
