helpful start to 2017 text issues opening up earlier version

    Hi all,
Just found a quick way to start the cleanup process of text when opening a 2016 project in 2017.
I like many other have experienced text boxes cramping the text, effectively cutting off the last character from view.
I selected one instance, selected all in view, used pin tool and they all change to full text visible with the their text box.
Then while all are selected, use the unpin tool to bring them back to unpinned.
Yes, slight placement and adjustments are needed then maybe, but at least this meant I am not selecting each instance and widening the text box.
Don't think there are any ramifications of this action.
I have searched for this fix in the threads, can't find it. So excuse the repeat post if it is one.
    cheers

kudos, but where were you 2 weeks ago when I had to deal with my R2015 project upgrade to R2107 and had to spend 2 days fixing text issues?
I'm retired, if you don't like it, go around!

I'm saying the same thing to myself, adjusting a 2015 project for student work this coming semester. The last week or so might have been a little easier.

hmmm didn't work for me at all. Opened 2016 project, went to a view, select all text in view, pin, unpin, no change whatsoever. The text still overlaps other text notes above and below.

Seems to more of a fix for when text doesnt wrap properly within a text box. It certainly wouldnt move text boxes.

The text in question overlaps other text because of wrapping. We typically do fixed-length text notes to make them wrap, and when upgrading a project to 2017 the text often wraps to additional lines where it didn't before, because of the text increased length along with the change in size. The procedure you listed in the OP didn't do anything when I tried it. No change whatsoever in the text wrapping or anything else.

It seems then to only work in simple text-boxes.
