Nested Casework Family - Symbolic line not showing - View Range ?

    Hi everyone,

Second time posting here. I've try to find the answer over the forum but to no avail.

    I'm building up casework families.
First I started with the bottom caseworks for a kitchen, everything is going well.
I then made a casework family with nested sinks, and everything worked well (everything is flexing and showing as I want to)

Bu then, I tried to add a nested faucet so I can have my combination of sink/faucet available as Types and the equipements would show up in schedules. Both the sinks and the faucet are symbolic line only, no 3D models. They also are drawn in plan view, and in front and left elevations. The sinks and the faucet are drawn at the height of 36" (countertop).

The problem I'm seeing is that if the faucet is only drawn in plan view (not in front or left elevations) everything works and shows. But when I draw my symbolic line in front, whenever i draw over the countertop line, and reload my families in my project, both the sink and the faucet disappear (I can see them when I hover over the object).

It seems to be something with the view range or something I'm missing, but I've been searching for forum and the web for half the day now and testing visibility stuff without finding a way to make it work.

Anyone has an idea of what I'm missing here ???

It's been a long time since I've tried to deal with symbolic lines in complex families, but if I remember how it works you have to be very careful with what plane you are drawing the symbolic lines on. It sounds like you put the plan symbols on a ref plane above your counter, but have you done the same to put your elevation elements in front of the casework? Depending how you've nested it, Revit could "see" those symbols as being in a wall behind the casework.

My symbolic line plan in on a reference plane at 36".
My symbolic line elevation is on a reference place in front on the cabinet.
If my symbolic line elevation is positionned higher than the 36" reference plane, my symbolic line plans won't show up in plan.

It's as if there is a masekd region associated with my symbolic line elevation....
It's hard to understand what produces this behavior.

You could try uploading the family for people to look at. I might try temporarily converting the lines to model lines to help identify location issues

So I tried switching my symbolic lines to Model Lines - Same Problem.
I flushed my symbolic lines and modeled the faucet in 3D, and I still have the exact same problem.
Seems that whenever there is lines or models that go over the countertop limit, anything that is drawn there is hidden by something.
I can see it well in elevation but when I'm in my plan view the sink and 3d faucet are hidden (but I can still se both of them when I hover over the family)
I played around with my view range in both my families and my project but nothing seems to work.

Anybody can try it here : (see the link further down in the post)

In my project, my plan view has a cut level of 4'-0". If I erase the faucet from the family I can see the 2d sink. If the faucet is in the family and is positionned so a part of it goes over de countertop I don't see the sink anymore....

Here is my project plan view. The cabinets on the right have the 2D sink and the 2D faucet nested in the cabinet family.
They are both at 36" and I can both see them.

The highlighted one on the left has the same 2d sink in the same position, and a 3d faucet (with no 3d lines) at 36" offset.
When I insert the nested faucet, both objets are "hidden" by something.

You need to change the settings so anyone with a link can download - it wants to request permission. You should be able to upload through the forum too (through go advanced)

You have a rectangular masking region in the family
                    That's an detail item
A detail item in family is represented at the height of the highest object of the family
When placing the faucet in the family this is the highest object and the region masking is represented on it
                    And hides everything underneath
Why do not you use an extrusion instead of a masking region?
