Revit Files Coming in Sectioned

    Revit Files Coming in Sectioned

    Ok guys, I know I'm probably just missing something stupid here but I'm not that familiar with Navis and Google is not providing me any help. So, when I open my Revit file in Navis it comes in looking sectioned. The Architecture model looks like this:


    I cannot for the life of me figure out why, I tried toggling the section views and unhiding everything. The Structural model comes in looking sectioned in plan.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Are you exporting from a Revit View with Section Box turned on?
    Whatever View is active when you Export will be what gets exported as is. If the View is cropped, the NWC will be, too.

      Hey Dave,

      I'm not exporting it at all, just opening the RVT in Revit, I also tried to append the RVT into Revit and Merge it all with the same results.

      I could try exporting a NWF and see if that works better.

        For the record, always export NWC. You have greater control of the export.

          Now, that you mention it, Tannar, I remember that you can configure Navis (or is it the Export?) to look for a specific View.
          By default, I think Navis looks for a View with "Navis" in the name, and it if doesn't find that, it uses the default {3D} View.
          No idea which View it uses if it doesn't find either.

            APpending an RVT will (more often than not) work like a complete bag of ****. I recommend never doing that.

            It ISNT auto-appending the "entire model," when you do that. I believe (as Dave mentioned) it looks for NAVIS in the view name, and if it doesnt find that, it uses whatever 3D View it finds first, or something stupid. Either way, it still exports a VIEW. Since it does thiat, might as well handle your exports manually, lest you end up with views exported that are actually missing things because they were hidden in Revit.

              Yes, you have to manually export rvt files. Open export close, open export, close. Progs together work far from great Autodesk ...

                If I am understanding you correctly, you should just click on the Viewpoint tab, then Enable Sectioning. From there you may have to click on Fit Selection to see the sectioning box and Gizmo. If the section box is not aligned with your model, then choose Box under Mode and use the Move and Scale functions as you manipulate the Gizmo to adjust the section box. You can Save Viewpoint after you get to a desired view, then start over again to adjust for your next view to be saved. Hope this helps.

                  Thanks for the reply Charles, exporting the NWS file from Revit instead of opening the Revit file in Navis solved the problem for me. I'll try your solution as well just for science sake.
