    Spot coordinate origin

Can you change the origin of spot coordinates? I want to base it off of a grid intersection without moving my base or survey points. is there a way to create a new point that will show up in the coordinate origin dropdown? or maybe putting a formula into the spot coordinate family?
    thanks!

You can make multiple setups for the Shared Coordinates (make another Survey point, basically).

The Project Base Point is designed to be moved unclipped to allow what you describe. Then you assign a Spot Coordinate type to use Project Base Point as its reference.

        Can you tell me how?

Steve i want to use multiple points as base points. basically have different spot coordinate types that have different grid intersections as origin points.

Oh, the method i described wont let you do that. You can go to manage > Location > Site > Duplicate, and make multiple coordinate systems. But the model can only ever be at one of the coordinate systems.

You can do what you want with a really ghetto family, but its ugly and hacky. I did it back in 2007.

Malleristic Revitation: Revit, Random, and different platforms...

But i would much prefer use real coordinates.

EDIT: if you really wanted to, you couple place "Markers" at certain grid intersections, and ask Dynamo to get coordinates based on different Markers... But that wouldnt be for the faint of heart.

              Thanks Aaron,

that link looks interesting. When i get a little downtime i'm going to try to recreate it. You are correct, attacking that in Dynamo would be beyond me.

Without a glimpse of the way your project is organized and documented in views and sheets...

It might be feasible to move the Project Base Point (unclipped) to each key grid intersection and print the relevant sheets so spot elevations report the correct related coordinates. Don't add Spot Coordinate annotation that references the Project Base Point to any views that show more than one key grid intersection.

Yes you'd have to be careful to place the PBP at the correct locations each time you print.
