Creating flow rate in Domestic Services Systems

Is there any way I could possibly get a flow rate through my domestic services pipework system (using fixture units) without actually having to add plumbing fixture families to the model?

The architect has include all fixtures within their linked model so don't really want to create duplicates.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Going from memory & based on what I've seen some of the MEP guys say:
You can Copy / Monitor fixtures and work that way or add what amounts to a placeholder family at the fixture locations so your systems will work but you aren't chasing down family changes constantly.

Best way ive found is to create a family with 3 connectors in. A hot, cold & drain I make the 3 solids than you need to host the connector hidden so you dont see anything in your model
