    Modelling

    Hi All,

I ahve a 3d autocad file for a very complex vanity basin.
We don't use cad files in Revit here so I want to create this same basin in Revit.
Any tips or advice on how to use this cad file as a basis to screate my revit family?

Seriously, with all the things we have been reading recently here about CAD data causing problems in Revit, the best advice is to print out your drawing, pin the sheet on the wall, and look at the drawing while you create it from scratch in Revit.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying Alfredo.
I don't want to use the dwg file at all if i can help it.
I was hoping I could at least use it as a base to perhaps start with??

Yah, be careful like Alf said. But that said, I often import CAD geometry to create families like that:

        1. Import the DWF to a new blank family
        2. Re-model it with Revit geometry
        3. Open a new blank family
        4. Copy/Paste the Revit geometry ONLY from the first family to the second.

Now all traces of the DWG/CAD file should not be present in the later family, and it should therefor be safe to use.

It would be good if you have managed to do so, have a look at your revit version of the basin. Looked like a tricky one to me!
