Families...

I have newly aquired Revit Arch 2012 but the families i have gotten for it do not wor or are nor recognised. And it is really hard to find free families. If anyone can help, it would be GREATLY appreciated!

Sounds like something have gone wrong when you installed Revit. Revit usually ships with lots of families... Maybe you´ll find help in this thread?
