Revit 2018 Interoparability with 3dsMax 2018 not available?

I wondered if anyone else has tried linking Revit 2018 files into 3dsMax 2018?

When I try to link a Revit 2018 file into 3dsMax 2018 a message appears in 3ds Max saying that Revit Interoparability is not installed.

FBX linking works OK and the Help file says that Revit linking should work, maybe just not yet

I've looked at the installer for BDSP again and don't see anything extra available.

(I know Revit linking wasn't very clever in 2017 versions but you live in hope )

Interesting - I've had notification of an Autodesk Customer Support case by email re. this issue.

Some kind person at Autodesk must have created it?

Uninstalling and reinstalling both 3ds max 2018 and Revit 2018 hasn't made any difference - the Revit interoperability error message still appears when attempting to link a Revit 2018 file into 3dsMax 2018.

It isn't worth bothering further with this - I'll stick to linking FBX exported from Revit, and the 2017 versions, as at least that works.

Just to mention that a kind support person over on the Autodesk 'TheArea' Forum has sent me a link to download the Revit 2018 interoperability installer.

Unfortunately I can't figure out how to make it install as it says to run Setup, and BDSP 2018 Setup doesn't seem to offer an opportunity to install anything outside the downloaded package.

        Hopefully they will advise later

Nice that they are at least trying.

Credit where it's due, Autodesk Support on theArea forum have stuck with this and posted a link to the Virtual Agent to allow me to download just 3dsMax 2018 which then offers to install not just the Revit 2018 interoperability add-in but also the Arnold renderer which was missing from the BDSP 2018 install package (but there may be a newer version on the Arnold home site).

This is the thread over there if anyone else has this issue:

Hello ,   I wanted to follow up here with some instructions on installation.  I got a message from you that the installer wouldn't take and although I had tested it on my end, I already had the Revit interop installed.  When it's already installed it seems it works ok, but when it isn't the installe...

Thank you for the solution. Happy.
