    Revit 2018 template upgrade failure

    Hi All,


    I have recently installed Revit 2018 and first thing that I tried to do is to upgrade my Revit template from 2016 to 2018 version (I skipped 2017).



    When I try to open my 2016 template Revit normally starts upgrade process and when Revit comes to 100% it just shows welcome screen and doesn't want to update my template.



    Does someone know what could be the reason? Is that bug in Revit 2018, or?

      Well, I had an issue with upgrade from 2016 to 17. Its likely that something has changed in how a setting is applied, making the settings in your template invalid somehow.
      I managed to solve the problem by purging a lot of crap from the template, but I didnt find out exactly which family was causing the problem.
      You could also try making a new, empty 2016 project, that does upgrade succesfully. Then use transfer project standards to add your template settings to the empty file and upgrade, until you find what is causing the problem.

        I did what you said, It was a bit more of a painful process but I now have a working template at least. I did end up finding it had something to do with my rebar shape families though.
