In the rendering/sun dialog, change the date and time to ~sunrise (+/- ½hour) - The rendering should come out dark, but just crank up the brightness in "Adjust Exposure" - This should give some some nice and soft shadows.

Shadows
Hi All,
We are producing some floor plans for a client proposal and we have done the whole, "slice the top of the building off and render the floor plan in a 3d view" trick.
No problem, however, the shadows that the are created come out really dark. We have tried every setting available to reduce the darkness of the shadows but cannot seem to get them to be lighter.
Any ideas?Tags: None
