    Using railing family to create curved brick slips

    Hi all,

    I have created a railing family which allows me to insert my vertical laid and horizontally laid brick slip panels along lines and curves with lots of success. Where the system falls down is if you try to carry out railing along more than one length of geometry such as line and curve etc. Unless the line is an exact division of the the length by he segment size the point of interface overlaps on itself.

    Is there a railing family setting or a work flow anyone can suggest which allows me to select multiple lines and apply the railing to the whole length of multiple lines which divide perfectly with segments.

    That's one of my biggest frustration with railings. If only the Type parameter to deal with that situation was an instance... but it's not
    o you can create several types or use a separate family to manually place to "fill the gap"

      You can divide path of multiple line segments using in-place mass and Divide Path tool.

        Or better yet: you can model them as curtain walls. Create a curtain wall panel (solid) that basically is a box with the dimensions of a brick. Make the curtain panel with a fixed distance grid layout (again, with the dimensions of a brick). Make a mullion that will act as the brick joints. Select the brick curtain wall panel you created in the curtain wall, and voila. It will arrange them on a curve as well.

        Problem: a) if you want a 1/2 step layout, you will have to model every row, or manage the grid lines manually (a pain the ***)
