    Topography building pads

    The question is easy:

    Are you using them?

More power than a d9 bulldozer, and cleaner for the environment.

Okey i will explain myself more. I am currently thinking about a method of making topography without using building pads.

      Building pads problems:
1- Cannot define point heights individually so you can only define slope.
2- Causing problems when you need pads in more than 2-3 phases.
3- Causing visualization problems: under pads section fill cannot be seen sometimes.

      Solution:
      - Not using pads
      - Instead of this dividing the topography and adjusting the points of each topography at the height needed.

I've had more success when I make the "pad" the rock underlay (model the slab as a floor on top of the "pad"). Cuts the topo, shows something in section, and since it's primarily graphic, I don't have to be as precise with regards to phasing.

Yep...they just don't work very well if you have a pad right next to a pad for a multi-level basement. Tend to get slivers of topo in between.

Hello there! Im using pads for a long time now, but i have certain issues, explained ahead....:
            Im using Revit 2014.
We are working on a huge project (30 buildings, in a large plot of land). We have designed the buildings and, as ex links they come to the huge revit project that has the whole plot of land, where we are designing the roads etc.
I have two fases (existing -demolished by new- and the new one).
I have the toposurface in existing fase, and a graded toposurface in the new fase.
Im setting my pads, on the new fase.
Some pads show cut and fill volumes properly in schedules , some show 0 !!!
What is going on? What more should i check?
I have already made 300 pads, and im not done!
Any ideas? as far as im searching through forums, i find things i have already checked.
            Thanks,
            C.

Slivers are only 'leakages'. Solved that by placing ref planes and aligning to them. Only if pad are straight of course.
