tags were not copied because they could not find a host

I am trying to copy and paste many equipment tags for repeating elements and I get this error. "some tags were not copied because they could not find a host" even though I am choosing the exact same base point position of the new object when copying.

I ask because being able to copy will save a LOT of time rather than tagging each one individually

In other projects it's worked just fine. it seemed as though the tolerance was higher, if you will, and it would allow me to tag it even if it wasn't directly touching the object.

Is there a way to adjust the tolerance?

Is there any reason you can't just Tag them again?
If it's on overall plan, you could just use Tag All Not Tagged. that won't duplicate anything that already has a Tag.

But! Here's a little-used feature of the TANT command:
If you have elements selected, TANT, will only Tag those elements, not everything in the View.
So you could do your Copy/Paste and - while the pasted elements are still selected, immediately do a Tag All to recover the ones that failed to Paste.

The reason I didn't want to do the tag all is because I use a leader and have them positioned in a certain way that's not right over the object.

I ended up doing tag all though... too much work otherwise haha

Dummy me! You had me Googling for this nifty-neat “TANT” command. Then I realized you were talking about “Tag Everything Not Tagged”. Duh! Still, you pointed out something I didn’t know about it. Good tip, Dave!
