IFC Export and linked revit models

    Hello,

I need to export my project to IFC. I have the Revit 2011 architectural model with a revit MEP model linked in. When I export the project to IFC the MEP model does not export with it. I have tried with the linked MEP set to "attachment" and also "overlay" with no luck.
How do I get the whole project to export in one IFC file? Any ideas?

The other discipline files that are linked in will have to be bound to the main file to make this work. To do this I open the central detached, save it with a different name and then select the links one at a time and use the bind function to get them into the model. Binding large links will take a long time so this is best done on a computer that is not being used if possible.

I can't say I'm an expert in that case, but I've read a lot about ifc files and coordination.
In your case, I would say that the best workflow would have been to export as ifc the architectural model, do the same with the mep one and then put both projects together in a dedicated soft (s.a. Solibri or Navisworks).

I think binding the MEP could be difficult on large project.

Anyway, let us know your experience, I'm very interested in IFC workflows.

        cheers
