    Filter by Pipe Size

How come you can't create a filter by pipe size?

I go to the filter set up and it doesn't show up under Filter Rules.

Tried to add a project parameter to all pipes called "SMALL PIPES", with the hope of controlling it that way, but no dice.

    Any ideas out there?

My goal is to throttle down the line thickness for pipes 1" and smaller while modeling in the same system type as the larger pipes.

    Ex. 4" DCW = 4, 2" DCW = 4, >>> 1" DCW = 2 <<<

    Cheers...

Sorry.......I created a brand new filter and excluded "SYSTEM TYPE" as a category. I only picked pipes, fitting, and accessories. Now size does show up under Filter Rules.

But now that I have a Small Pipe Filter, why doesn't it over-ride my other system type filters that define line thickness?

How do I re-prioritize the filter hierarchy so that my Small Pipe Filter takes precedent?

    Thanks again...

      Hi Koolair,

You can't use filter for changing the size of each pipes like what shown in your example.
Filter only applies for the control of the visibility of the category/selected elements.
You better post some images on what criterias and parameters are you using on filtering.
I'm sure that can filtered pipes thru it sizes as I always use that filter on my Combine shop drawing to minimize the congestion of the layout.
I always filter those pipes smaller that 50mm and it works.
But the way you want im not sure that you can change pipe sizes thru filtering.

      Hope you get some ideas.

      Cheers

I'm not changing any sizes. Just want the line weight to kick down to a 3 or a 2 when I change the pipe size to the smaller sizes.

So...it looks like I'm figuring this out live and direct.

I can now filter using the EQUALS operator, but once I select a range, ie..."LESS THAN", "LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO" it doesn't work as desired.

I created five filters. Moved to top of list of filters for sake of hierarchy.

          1 1/2", 1 1/4", 1", 3/4", and 1/2"

The sizes available only go up to 2". I guess Revit dev team knew this would be an issue.

This works nicely. My small pipes no longer look like fat lines. Insulation looks beautiful.

I bet this also applies to valves and other stuff as long as they're connected to the system (I check-marked the pipe accessories when creating the filter).

BTW...I'm on Revit 2017 now. The duct and pipe insulation for fittings look sweet. It now tends not to wrap around phantom flanges and stuff like that.

But we'll see. Still test driving this.

          Cheers everyone.
