Modeling reinforcement and bending schedules

Hi

I suppose you can model reinforcement in Revit, and then generate bendign schedules.

Anybody know an ok step-by-step procedure for the bending schedules? (I managed the modeling ok I think)

I hear that some people use Impaact for reinforcement drawing. Is this faster / better / easier than doing it in Revit?? To me it seems like
it would be easier to do it all in one program (again, Im used to Tekla).

Well, depending in what part of the World you are you may like or not like the way Revit handles reinforcement. In (Eastern) Europe, we draw the formwork in Revit and make the reinforcement in ASD Reinforcement. There is a possibility to model reinforcement in Revit, but the transfer to ASD is poor.

I have managed to detail reinforcement and schedule it using revit but was unable to get a total number of bars for each bar mark, I had to add this later manually. Any suggestions?

You do manually have to give each bar type its own bar mark. After this is completed you can get totals, but it is correct that Revit will not automatically do bar marks.

The reason this does not work is because it numbers each element individually, which would give every bar its own bar mark even though many of them should have the same bar mar. A project may have 200 different sets of straight #4 bars of 40' which all of these would need the same bar mark...the auto number would give 200 different numbers... If this is not correct please let me know...I would love to have my bars become auto-numbered, just have not found a way to do it.
