Anybody used MagiCAD (preferably in the UK)?

Hi, looking for M&E design software that is Revit computable and a quick google throws up MagiCAD (which primarily seems to be a Nordic based company). Haven't really seen or heard of them before and can't really find much in the way of a visible user base via google so wondering if anyone on here had experience of them?

I know of Cymap, was wondering how they compared.

Any knowledge, links, etc., on MagiCAD would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Les.

What Kind of design are you doing? Have you tried revit with out addons. Im in the UK and we are using Revit for heating, chilled & domestic pipework & ductwork design with no addons

Magicad has a load of videos https://www.magicad.com/en/learning/magicad-videos/ ive used it and it dose have loads good little tools but nothing we could justify the cost for

Im not going to get into Cymap as I dont want to swear

M&E design :-) just the usual. Water, heating, vent, lighting, power, etc.

MEP design is a bit flaky (whose regs/codes are they complying with for example?) design wise. need to comply with UK standards in order to pass (in my case) Section 6 tech building standards.

We are currently using Hevacomp (now, you don't want to get me swearing...!) but its not BIM Level 2 compliant and certain doesn't (and wont) interface/exchange properly with Revit. I'm aware they have a rival BIM product...

Did you get budget costs for MagiCAD? I've not actually contacted them directly as I can't find provenance for them... It's bad enough having Cymap phoning/emailing me all the time...

BTW I'm looking at a networked solution for (currently) 9 users.

yeah we changed from Heavacomp to doing it all but lighting in Revit, im currently testing ElumTools that will do lighting in revit & its looking very good the results are just about the same as we get from Dailux.

I did a lot of testing to compare Heavacomp, Cymap Revit & manual calcs, funny enough revit was the closet to the manual calcs with heavacomp behind it & Cymap was just about on the horizon in last place

Contact Magicad they are very helpful they set up a live webinar/conference call with us to demonstrate tailored to suite our needs as with most software they dont give out number until they know how many you want
