    Curved walls + roof by footprint

    Hi

    I'm trying to make a roof by footprint on curved and straight walls and the following error always comes up: "Can't make footprint roof".

    I've tried to split it in half so the slope is just on one side but that didn't work. I ended up with making 5-6 roofs but all had to be with straight lines. I can do all kinds of roofs that are curved like you see in one of the pictures attached but this path wont let it go through (not even if I do it another file/template/project)

    Any Ideas ?

    The first picture is the error I always get, number two is the path I'm going for, number three is a picture of the roof(s) that I ended up creating one at a time (no curved lines (same error), and number four is just a random footprint roof that I made to see if the same error would appear.

    I'm sure they do, but I'll start with the obvious.... Do the 2 curves (bottom and top of the slope) definitely share the same centre point?

      Are your segments all the same slope (pitch)? Is there any offset from base applied?
      Try slope arrow instead of segment’s slope definition.

        Hi guys. Thank you for the quick answers.

        BIMscape: I tried doing another roof on the side were I have the same center point and that didn't work. (see attached picture)

        PijPiwo: I have the same slope on every line i want to have slope's on. I tried working with the slope arrows but the roof always ends up pretty messed up. Besides that I can't figure out how to control the slope of the slope arrow (always set to 30° and I can't change it).

        If I would send you the model would either of you care to check it out ?

          Yes, please do. Upload your file here, on the forum.

          FYI, to change the slope arrow slope: select slope arrow and, in properties, change 'height at tail' to 'slope'. 'Slope' option will become available.

            Roof

            Ok here is the roof. It's just straight lines but I want to be able to use start-end-radius arc line.

            Thank you for the quick responses guys, I really appreciate it

            edit: about the slope. It is supposed to start at a level called "6. hæð" (26320mm) and end at "Þak." (27950mm)

              Roof solution ?

              Ok so I tried working with the slope arrows again and I got it pretty right I think. What do you think ?

                Hi HSG11, Nice, my solution: I'll do try with a Roof by extrusion and then i'll cut out the Elevator with a void , just a different idea!! :hide:, regards

                  For some reason this roof doesn’t want to cooperate :banghead:
                  You can use two roofs, however the surface pattern on the curved part will not be aligned. I know you’ve tried it already, but try it again - it works fine on my end.
                  Or, model the roof as a sweep. With the sweep, it’s possible to fix the surface pattern issue by cutting the roof (sweep) with a void.
                  Personally, I’d use two roofs and turn the roof pattern off.

                  Andres, unfortunately the roof by extrusion doesn't do curves, straight path only.

                  EDIT: Single roof will work when straight segments are tangent to the curve.

                    Hi PijPiwo, thanks for your observation, I just wanted to to respond quickly and I didn't pay enough attention to my words, I wanted to proposed a curved roof by Extrusion and I didn't proposed the good method, so here is my idea to HSG11 to do his roof:

                    So I didn't use the Roof by extrusion Command, instead I used the "Create component in place", sorry if it's misspelled (my Revit is in French),

                    Then I just choose the Extrusion by path Option,

                    I drew the Roof profile, and finally I added a void to cut the roof at the desired place :
