Fresh on the Revit scene: Please Help

Hello Everyone! A quick Intro.... I'm a full time construction management student with BIM aspirations and currently I am teaching myself Revit in between classwork. Can anyone tell me why my Documents Folder has around 18 copies of the recent file I have been working in? I have attached below a screenshot of this activity; I set my back ups to 2 or 3 so I don't know why it is stockpiling versions of the file. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    TJ

I don't know what you did previously, but his always seemed to be the problem when I was a TA:

Revit autosaves the specified number of backups specified when first saving the file. You can reduce the amount of copies by doing Save As - Project, click options in the prompt and specify the number of backup files you would like to have and then save it again.
I can't remember whether you have do delete the excess backups on you own or Revit will do it for you.

When you first started the project i think the default backup numbe was 20. If you had changed that option since then, you may just be seeing the original run of backups (which are really just old saves being relegated).

Yep just old saves back when the number of back-ups was more than the 2 or 3 you have it set on now. Delete any and all you see fit.
