backgrounds for consultants export to dwg

our structural consultant likes the floor plan backgrounds to only show the stud layer of the wall. is there an efficient way of doing this? right now I am exporting to dwg and in AutoCAD I am deleting all the lines that represent either the sheathing or finish layer. which is very time consuming.

You're nice. No way would I do all that extra work for a consultant! I'll bet they love you!!

You can place each Wall Function (Structure, Substrate, Thermal/Air Layer, Finish 1, Finish 2) on it's own layer from the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup. Then isolate, delete, and purge the offending layers in AutoCAD.

thank you for replying. when I follow your steps and export I get the "common edge layer" instead of Structure, Substrate, Thermal/Air Layer, Finish 1, Finish 2

If they are your consultant, tell them to do the work themselves. If they're not your consultant, and you're not billing hourly, they're eating your lunch.
