    Hyperlinks in Revit

    Dear Gurus:

Is it possible to hyperlink an object in Revit? I would like to have the end user click an annotation symbol in the generated PDF and have it take them to a particular website. If this is not possible, is there a way to have the hyperlink text shortened? Many URLs are way too long. I would like to just have the text displayed like this: link and have the URL hidden. Can this be done?

Thanks in advance for the help \ advice!

The only idea I have for this is to use a QR Code

I have not checked this, but some information is retained when you export to dwf. The links might be one of those bits of information that is visible and if so, I imagine it will function as a hyperlink...don't know for sure though...

        That´s pretty clever

Another option is to use one of the services to create short URL´s - Like www.bitly.com

URLs placed in a parameter of a Revit object DO NOT function as links when exported to DWF.

Thanks for all the responses. We are already using QR Codes on our drawings for various info. However, it is sometimes not convenient or possible to use a smartphone to follow these links. It would be nice if the URL parameter could a bit more flexible - and would work in DWF. Maybe we will see some changes in this in an upcoming version. Thanks again!

QR Codes are like barcodes, but they use a pixel pattern instead of bars. They can be read by smartphones (with the right app, of course) and can contain anything from a URL to contact information or a block of text. More info here: http://code.google.com/p/zxing/
