2011: show demolition in all previous phases?

    2011: show demolition in all previous phases?

    I have a multi-phase project for which I need to create a view that shows all of the demolition work across all phases. Initially it seemed that setting the Phase Filter for the view to "Show All" would work but it doesn't see multiple phases back in time.

    Asking around the office I was given three possible solutions:

    1) collapse all phases into two - existing and new
    2) draw the demolished work in previous phases with drafting lines
    3) stack a sequence of views, one per phase showing demo only, on top of a view showing only existing-to-remain at the latest phase

    Based on my experience with room tags on demolition plans option 3 seems the most "Revity" way to go, but certainly comes with its own drawbacks.

    Is there another, simpler way?

    Method 3 is the only good way to do it. The first two options are disasters for a number of reasons you may not realize yet... But they will rear their ugly heads if you try.

    Yes, the room tags will be hard, since rooms cannot be multi phase. Also keep in mind that viewports get "draw order" based on the order theyre placed on the sheet, and you cant move them "up" or "down," so if you have floors in all of the views, be mindful. You have to set some things to transparent or the views below get blocked.

        We're running into the same situation. How are you setting up your view for the existing-to-remain portion?

        We also need to set up a similar view that shows all of the new work with the existing-to-remain. In that view, we have decided to:
        1. Temporarily change the view's phase to Existing and filter to Show New
        2. Window select everything and override graphics in view by element to be halftone
        3. Set the phase of the view back to the newest phase and the phase filter to Show Complete.
        Has anyone ever done this method before?
