    Interesting Revision Issue

    Hi All,

Had this interesting issue today with revisions.
We needed to issue a sheet to the client with some amendments which is now Rev C on the sheet. All the Revisions show correctly in the revision list in the title block. We traditionally like to issue sheets showing the revision history in the title block but not the clouds for past issues.

What we found was this, when we selected the cloud for Rev A and used "hide in view" it did just that, but also removed the revision from the revision list. OK fine un-hide the cloud and have it show again. We then selected the cloud for Rev B and use the "hide in view". It hid the cloud and tag, but left the revision in the revision list.

My question, why does the revision description get removed when hiding one revision cloud but not the other when both are on the same sheet?????

Drew. Tried to replicate this behavior, but in my test both the cloud and the revision description got removed for Rev. A and B

But, instead of hiding the clouds, you could just set it to show "none" for revision A and B in the Revision dialog - See the attached.

      Hi Klaus,
It is very strange behavior indeed. It may be an issue with th file itself as I can't replicate itvin a new file either.
I did look at the solution you posted. The problem here is that this is global and effects all of thecsheets that this Rev is placed. In reality, not all sheets get additional revisions simultaneously. Ie sheet A001 has Rev A & B. Sheet A002 has Rev A & B. Both sheets are issued.
Now a revision is made to sheet A002, which now has Rev A,B & C. Traditionally we hide the last rev clouds but leave the description in the list. By using the method you describe, the rev clouds will be hidden on both sheets, so when sheet A001 is issued, the description will be there, but no cloud.
This is a problem and can cause confusion on site.

I believe you can create a revision cloud(s) outside the sheet border, assigned to the revision(s) you want in the list but not visible on the sheets and views.

Sorry...actually you can hide them the way you are and restore them to the revision list by looking at the sheet properties > Revisions on sheet > Check the available revision(s) to restore it.
