    Sloping Chimney Cap

    I need help. I've created a simple face based family for a chimney cap. I need the top part to be able to slope to the front. I'm lost on how to do it.

    If possible, I'd like the parameter to have slope input, like roofs do. So, instead of 45 degrees, I'd like to input 12:12 slope.

    Well, here's it with a slope angle (didn't test it really thorough so you might want to check the constraints...
    There is probably some mathematical way to calculate the slope angle from width and difference in height between front and back, but frankly: I'm on a deadline here...

      Here you go. Dont think you can change input from angle to ratio. Could be done by adding a formula thou.

            I tried the exact same thing, using a reference line, and it didn't work. How did you guys do it, and get the side walls to join at the slope?

            Martijn, you win. Mark sloped it to the side instead of the front. :laugh:

            I take that back. You've both messed up my constraints in two different ways. I swear, free help is hard to find these days. :laugh:


            Seriously, though. I'm going to try to deconstruct both of yours and figure this out. It can't be too difficult (I hope). Thanks to you both. :beer: :beer:

              Yeah but I am in the Southern Hemisphere ! You know the, the water goes down the sink in the opposite direction, front back left right whatever !! :laugh:

              The chimney is an extrusion drawn in a side view, base and 2 sides locked to planes, sloped top locked to REFLINE

                Also you did align and lock your Refline to both planes at the intersection by Tabbing the end of the Refline untill the blue dot appears and align to plane didn't you ?

                    Refline is attached to the right side crossing of refplanes. It has a length parameter Width+2*Overhang.
                    Refline has an angle parameter (You need to do this BEFORE constraining any geometry)
                    I redid the cap in Left Elevation View with the Center workplane as refplane. Cap is locked to refline and to both ends.
                    I gave the shaft an extra length (Height + 1') and cut it using a Void hosted to the refline. So it will probably only work on a limited angle (but hey, speed is everything)

                    That's about it I guess...
