    Column Visibility in Wall

We have a situation where we have a 3'-0" high steel column inside of a metal stud wall, and the column does not appear in our plan views. We adjusted the view range so that the cut plane was at 2'-10", but the column still won't show. With some experimenting, I found that the column will show once it's at least 3'-9" high, which doesn't help out this situation. Any thoughts? I've attached an example.

    1. Was the enlarged plan made with a Detail Callout or a Floor Plan Callout? This affects display of structural columns, as I recall they will not show up correctly in Detail Callouts but do show in Floor Plan Callouts.

    2. Open the structural column family and Check the properties for "pre-cut in plan views"--see attached.

    hope this helps

I forgot to mention that I'd already looked into both of those issues. It won't show up in a regular floor plan or a floor plan callout. And it is set to show pre-cut in plan.

Are you able to set your wall transparent or can you change your visual style to wireframe? either of those changes will display your column in the wall

Setting the view to wireframe is not feasible, and I'm trying to figure out something that I wouldn't have to change in every view, like I would if I made the wall transparent. I'd already thought to show hidden lines, but then I'm back to editing a bunch of views.

Something is wonky with your attachement. The view range has no affect on the columns what so ever. Very weird.

It was already checked, so I unchecked it and it works as it should now. I always have that checked, though, and it's always worked fine. Something screwy is going on with the column family I think.

Thanks! I could have sworn I tried every combination of factors this morning, but I must have missed that one.
