    Upgrading to 2016

    HI GUYS,

I am trying to Upgrade my Revit 2015 project to Revit 2016.
but from my previous experience, Upgrading is not recommended.

therefore, i am trying to do something different than upgrade.

i can certainly do copy and paste by upgrading the old model to 2016 and open both file in one revit.
but this way i lose all the views i had created.

    any suggestion?

    Lee

not that this answers your question but for my own curiosity what was your previous experience?

also, is this MEP,arch or struct? or all? (previous experience and current)

I upgrade all of my files. Works fine probably 95% of the time. More than half of the other 5% just have one or two minor oddities, like a dimension reference or two getting whacked. Nothing id worry about.

Upgrading projects and families is normal, anything else could be considered not recommended. The only reason I'd postpone upgrading is to wait on the entire team being ready for a given project.

I haven't personally had any issues with upgrading - I'd recommend it over copy/pasting everything.

To add to the chorus, I upgrade to the newest version within a month or so of availability, and I have for 10+ years, with only a single exception. Really curious what "issues" you have had that suggest otherwise.

I would recommend taking the Revit model offline by detaching and performing a "test" upgrade. Also the idea of copying and pasting would require you to upgrade "a" model at one point or another thus there really isn't way around upgrading. Rebuilding all your views is just a small portion of what you would have to rebuild. All your annotations, dimensions, tagging, views.... I am sure there is a lot more.... would take a lot longer to rebuild then testing an upgrade to see how it goes.
