    Stacked Window

I have a problem. I have made a window family where as I have a bottom Window and a top window they are separated by 10" of trim when i insert the window in my project it shows the bottom window and the top window over each other. How can I fix this?

    I have attached the file.

Works like a charm for me. What exactly is the problem you're experiencing?

The issue that I have when I insert the windows into my project they show what is above the cut plane as well. I attached an image.

The plan view shows the upper windows. Easiest way to deal with that is to set the upper windows and trim to not be visible in plan views - although that has the potential to mess up your RCP

That will not work because the windows go up to the second floor and I would need to see them on the second floor, I had thought about that though.

aren't windows shown based upon the cut plane inside the family and not whether they're actually cut in the view?

Right in the family it looks perfect, but when I put it in the drawing it is all messed up. I tried changing my view range and nothing happens.

Unfortunately I can't open up image attachments (AARGH!), so I can't see your issue. But, as far as view representation in plan view, there are a couple of approaches you could take. Edit the Visibility Settings within the Families (Host and Nested Family). Plus, both families have symbolic lines that you might assign different Subcategories that you can control in project environment.

Edit: Oh, I think I get it. Your nested family's symbolic lines are being shown. Solution is as mentioned above - or, you could just delete symbolic lines from the transom windows.

Switch the family category to Generic Model, and itll work perfectly. I bailed on using Windows a while ago, for this reason.

If I do that will the window cut the wall opening?
