Material Texture Editor GRADIENT - returns to greyscale after applying colour

    Dear Forum

I would like to use and change the gradient in the material texture editor to colour and have coloured gradients applyed to the surface of materials when rendering. This appears to be very possible and straight forward, but when I change the colour from the grey default and apply it instantly returns back to the greyscale default. This is the same for each section in the render appearance, generic, self illumination etc...

Am I missing something? If anyone could shed some light it would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks

Hello again, I will try and be a bit clearer as I might not be describing the issue well.

In the materials section, under render appearance there is a gradient channel which you can set to gradient with the dropdown arrow (as well as image, checker, marble etc). When gradient is set it starts as being a gradient of black to white. When I change black or white to colour and then click apply it instantly changes back to black to white. I am only trying to achieve a gradient effect on a surface when rendering. Is there a reason why it does this?

    Many thanks again

I wasn't able to replicate the issue you describe. Make sure the black/white slider in the color picker is not all the way at either end of the spectrum.

        Hi Muttlieb

Thank you for looking at this. It is very strange as I have tested the other effect, marble, tile etc and the all work fine. I have tried your idea of moving the slider away from the sides but this does not seem to make any difference. Maybe it is a bug? I will try another machine with revit on.

        Thanks again!

Hi every one, I had the same problem with this procedural map, every time that apply the material, the color is gone and the black color is set in the material. Does any one know how to fix this problem?

          thanks in advance.

Yes, I can replicate the problem, and cannot see any fix. Is seeming like a bug.

I just noticed you are using Revit 2011, and I was able to reproduce the problem in that version. Looks like the bug was fixed in 2012 though.

Many thanks muttlieb! I need to progress onto 2012 I think...
