    Steelwork on sloping soffit

I have a roof supported by steelwork, I have set my work plane to the slope and drawn the beam in however how do I set out the beams in plan view?

I have drawn 2 reference planes in plan, I can snap to the horizontal line but cannot snap to the angled line how can I do this?

Do you need to schedule steel framing as structural steel? If not, use Sloped Glazing roof.

In a Section or Elevation, Create a Reference Plane parallel to the slope. Name it Roof Framing--or something like that.

Then, Set the Ref. Plane as current.

In a plan view, create a new Structural Beam System. ( it will need "supports" such as walls or columns, usually at the four corners of a rectangular bay. )
Assign a steel framing member ( joist ) to the beam system. Give it a spacing. That should work. You may need to adjust the height of the Reference Plane/beam system to your roof.

Are you designing / calculating the steel work? should that be leading this rather than matching the steel to the underside of the roof? How is the steel going to be fabricated/connected/supported. These things should be taken into account now, otherwise you will just be re-modeling this once the actual design is completed.

I have picked the slope in 3D view to get my reference plane is there anyway to name this reference plane? or draw in this reference plane in plan view?

Yes--highlight it, and in Properties, give it a name.

You can't draw a sloping ref. plane in a plan view--draw it in section or elevation view.

You give it a name (in Properties) first, then select it in the dialog box. You can't name it from the dialog box.
