[All Verticals] - PDF as an underlay link

    Applies to: - All Verticals

    New Feature / Problem:
I would really like to have an option to insert PDF drawings into a Revit view as a link. I would pay for it a lot. ))

Why do you need this Feature / Why is it a Problem:
Because, we are using a lot of PDF data to model some tenders and bids, in order to create construction logistics presentations and get some quantities

    Workflow:
Well we are converting PDF into dwg and linking them into Revit however a lot of scaling related inconsistencies occur.

    Benefits:
I would expect that it would affect the performance relatively less than cad links

Do you agree with the above?? Use the "RATE THIS THREAD" tool at the top right corner to express you opinion.

Convert to JPEG. Or you want snaps?

Was the idea actually submitted any time before?
I would be happy to see pdf and revit becoming friends..

It's not a new idea. The practical administration of it presents some problems since a PDF has a real world size that won't translate to a model view in a logical way. That suggests the only place a PDF would work is in a sheet view as an overlay.

If people want to be able to import a PDF into a floor plan view then there has to be mechanism to deal with size/scale and positioning. If it's dealt with like images are already (similar problem), yuck... It's kind of like having to calibrate for measurement in Bluebeam.

Then there's the entire matter of draw order...

          ...simple

Many more ways to work with it, but it is not done in Revit. I use a linked model, a 3d dwg export I keep synced, over a scaled PDF. Done in AutoCAD modelspace.. Quite simple
