    help with lighting fixture rendering

hi. so i'm following this training book for a while. but its rendering instruction is awful short to being useless.

how do i achieve the rendering in picture 2.

when i render the scene, i'm gettng picture 1, the lighting fixture is just a white light without or with very little effect on the surrounding unlike in the second picture. i don't know where to find the settings, where to tweak, etc.. please help thanks

i'm sure the two scenes are similar in terms of what materials used because i followed the training book step-by-step.

can you post the file? It seems your render settings need some major tweaking but it's hard to say without the project to look at and test in.

In the Rendering Dialog Box, make sure Lighting Scheme is set to Interior: Artificial Only. After the rendering is done, go to Adjust Exposure (same dialog box) and play with those sliders a little (mainly with Exposure Value) till you get desired effect.

make sure the lumen output of your fixtures is in a real world physical reasonable range:

in the rendersettings set the light burn coefficient to low value or 0 (see picture)
this should decrease the splotches, however burned out aereas are hard to avoid in these setups.
