creating Material TAG for use on walls, floors, skirt tings and ceilings.

I have been trying to set up a material tag or a tag that will function as it needs to be. In principle the current Cad standard has a tag for materials indicating if the material is stone, metal etc. How can I create a tag that automatically pick this up. I tried descriptions but it does not seem to work.

    Cheers René

    First off....welcome to RFO...

2nd....For a material tag to work an item must have the material applied to it. Whether it's applied via paint or applied to the item itself (family level).
Then all you have to do is go to Keynote....select Material Keynote... Tag away!

Material Keynote will only work if the Materials in the model have Keynotes assigned to them already. Otherwise, it will prompt them to select a keynote from a text File. If they dont have Keynotes set up, this could be a nonstarter. But i agree, its the best far reaching concept.

An actual "Material Tag" will do exactly what you want, its just a matter of what Parameter is the tag reading? I forget what the default one does. If its reading Description, its probably just an issue that your Material: Description parameters are blank. Switch it to Material: Name, or Material: Mark, and see if those are blank as well.

Forgot there was a material tag too...it's one of the small icons that lose their title when the window isn't wide enough...
