    Multiple tags for different windows

I have created our standard "fodder" for windows, doors, screens etc and all seems to be working ok. I can split schedules up as I need. But, I cant seem to apply different tags to what I would deem to be internal screens, and external windows.

In reality, they are made from the same revit items: windows. But, our internal "windows" may have doors in them, be full height etc. And they are internal.

So, what I want to do, is to be able to split the windows into 2 cat's: Internal windows, or Screens, and External Windows. I would need a seperate tag for each thou, as they are scheduled on different schedules.

Is there a way I can get this to work, as I am struggling with it at the moment...

    Cheers

I think it's simple. Just create a second tag or a second tag type. Tag external windows with the first and internal with the second one. This wil be a manual process as Revit will not be able to distinguish the two window classes

      Hi Dalmore

I have tried that, and the window tag for the internals, keeps defaulting back to the one I have set for the external windows.. I have the tags set in the "loaded tags" dialogue box for the normal external windows. Maybe this setting is overiding it.?

Will check it out and see if it is..?

Are the internal window families the same as the external? You could use one tag family and shared parameters also.

There are, at least, 2 solutions, assuming that both tag types are loaded into the project.

            1) Place all the tags with the same type. Then simply select all the tags that should be of a different type, and use the type selector in the Properties window to change them.

            Or...

            2) Do Annotate > Tag by category > click on the "Tags" button from the options bar to see the list of Loaded tags. Change the default for window tags. Then place your tags. When you need to tag with the other type, repeat this step to set the other tag as the default.

Why not create a window parameter (text) that is internal/external and filter your schedule by that parameter?

Here's a little test project I threw together that uses parameters.

The question was not about schedules, it was about tags. I think since alfredo has answered, everything should be clear?

if your tags have similar graphics you can eaven make a smart tag that is autochanging in text layout for the two kinds of families.
