Trim 1x12 rake on a gable?

I have a 1x12 rake coming down and meeting a 1x8 fascia. How do I trim/cut the 1x12 coming down so I can make a small return?

    Not a great roof join

The simple answer is a level cut on the rake barge. The reality is that you're better off having the gable come down on top of the facia. Your creating a valley gutter and depending where it is (locality) it's just a leave and debris catcher.

This is at the gable end, I'm trimming i have a 1x8 fascia and I want a 1x12 rake, I need to have a level cut to lign with the bottom of the 1x8 fascia and a level a plum cut flush with the front of the fascia again at the gable end.
      I'm sorry I didn't get your answer.

When you´ve placed the Facia, and pick it, you get the "Modify Mitering" option. I do however doubt that it´ll do the trick for you (if I understand your question right).

But instead, you can create an in-place family (Roof category) and create a void to cut the Facia (Remember to use the "Cut" tool) - See the attached.

Hey, and welcome to the forum to both of you

Can you list step by step what I have to do it.
I created a family in place (home-build-component- model in place) I selected roof catagory.
when I use the cut tool I can pick the fascia but I cant pick the new box I created.

Did you use the cut tool before you finished the in-place family? I´ll bet that you didn´t and that´s why you can´t select the void.

              Yeah I finally got it.
I'm coming from autocad architecture, I love revit it's so much better and easier to use, I wish I made the move a long time ago. I'm surprised on how nobody mentions how revit is so much better.
              Thank you for your help.
