    View Callouts with a Poligone for border.

    Hi, Is there a way to make the revit call-outs have a poligone shape instead of the rectangle ?

    Even if there's a way to creatively cheat the annotation family, I could do enough with filters and VG settings to make the view have what I want, It's more or less just the annotation I'm getting fussy about.

    duplicate the call out then edit the rectangle to be a polygon in the family editor
    I'm retired, if you don't like it, go around!

      how do you edit it in the family editor ? I can't find that on the ribbon , nor if I right click. I evey looked in the project browser.

        Currently, Revit does not provide non-rectangular callouts. You could fudge it by using some VG settings, but the area being referenced will always be rectangular anyway.

          oh I'm okay with using filters and VG overides inside the view, I understand that revit currently only does rectangular viewports. I would be okay just having the annotation show the odd shape ( not rectangular )

          I just havn't had anyluck finding where to edit the Callout annotation bubble. I am leaning towards a suggestion I got on another forum. It was to draw the callout I want with Detail lines, and Have the callout-annotation line be drawn as a really thin white line. That way I still have the parametric annotation showing sheet and detail numers, and I've cheated the callout-bubble. It just means more coordination, which I was hoping to avoid.

            OK, if you want to cheat the callout bubble, go to VG > Object Styles > Annotation objects tab > Callout boundaries > set the color to match the ; usually white.

            That will "hide" the rectangle. Now draw a polygon with detail lines, to replace the rectangle.

              Yeah that's what I will end up doing. I don't like having too many detail lines in my models. I'll group them so atleast they're not vangrant wandering detail lines

              I am guessing that this item is on a wish list somewhere right ? lol , I bet it was on the augi wishlist before the great data loss of 2010. ( bwahahah my status states I'm an augi refugee. that's gold )

                we're mostly all AUGI refugees here Sorry about the incorrect information, still learning a lot of this stuff myself
