Best paper to print color images on?

Here's an example of an image that looks good on screen, but just prints way too dark on paper. Any recommendations?

I would play with the levels in an image editing software to brighten it up a bit. On my monitor its a bit dark.
Any type of photo paper works pretty well specially the semi-gloss papers. I personally like the matte finish but that is just a personal preference. The ones that I have found to not work well is any general purpose paper they absorb too much the ink and tend to bleed a bit. It will also depend on your printer and the how clean the printer heads are and if your printer is calibrated, etc. Monitor calibration is also important to get consistent images across all output devices. Google Monitor calibration for some great in depth articles about this topic.

    Hope this helps

Noone here can answer the question you are asking. The Paper depends on printer technology and model. The ink used in a bubble jet printer is of great importance for instance. As we don't know anything about your printer and printing process we can not say anything about paper.
One thing is important to know. Screens as well as printing devices do not reproduce colors exactly. If you need reliable color reproduction, you need to calibrate both, screens and printing devices. If colors are not such a big issue, use image manipulation software to adjust printing results as Juan Carlos already adviced

Thanks guys. All good points. I suspected it was a multi-point solution process (notwithstanding my "hopefulness" that I was missing "the easy" solution).
