Linked File Position

Does anyone know of a way to get a linked file's position in the current project? What I ultimately need is the position of objects contained in the linked model within the current project. I can get to the linked documents and get their elements and locations within their own file, but if the linked file is not origin to origin, that location needs to be moved/rotated the same amount as the linked file was.

Anyway, hopefully that made sense, is there a way to do this?
