help with massing plus curtain wall

    help with massing plus curtain wall

    how do you apply a curtain system on a massing such that the grid/mullions follow the curve of a one 2d face.

    for example, one side/face of that massing is not a square (three sides are straight while one is curved), how do i apply the curtain system such that it wont look like a "square grid" superimposed in a non square face. i hope i'm clear. thanks

    Barry, not sure I understand the question... could you provide a sketch?

      sorry, i should have provided that, the first pic is what i'm getting, the second pic is what i want to achieve.

      btw, the design is from the book by eric wing that i'm using as a training book.

        I´m not a expert on Conceptual Massing (or on anything else for that matter). But here´s one way that should work:
        • Divide the opposite surfaces, and use the Surface Representation to turn on nodes
        • From an elevation view, create ref. planes between the nodes on each of the surfaces
        • Pick the main face, and apply a grid with "V Grid = 1"
        • With the main face/grid still selected, use the "Intersects" tool and pick the ref. planes you created.

          thanks Munkholm. that's one possible way, however it seems to be tedious compared to the book, all he (the author) did is to apply the Curtain System to the massing and it seems to be automatic.

            Beats me then! But would be interested in knowing what the trick is... Anyone knows? Maybe someone have the book?

              I just ran a test and my curtain system does as per your manual.
              Quick Q are you using wall type curtain wall or are you using the curtain system?
              The wall type will keep Orthogonal axis.
              When you apply curtain sysytem the form drives the axis.


              If this does not help, please post a section of your project
