    Baluster Issues

Hello, I have created a custom baluster using a baluster template. The problem I am having is that the baluster works fine when I attach it to stringers, when I attach it to treads or try to make a floor based rail I get an error saying the balusters could not be create. I am using revit 2014

I have attached the file, it would be very helpful if anyone had a solution for me, I feel like it is something simple that I am missing. Thank you very much to anyone taking time for this.

i can't make it work either, so not much help from me. One thing i noted, though, is that the Family breaks, when the Baluster Height gets below 2'5"...

i think i had some issues with using a reference line to cut, and possibly some lock issues also, i have gotten it to work for railings now but i have a new issue which is that the top of the baluster is not showing at all, i have attached an updated file with the new problem. If you could have a look at it i would greatly appreciate it.

I'm not sure what the issue is with your baluster but as a study I'm attaching one of the older ones that autodesk included with the sample files. One big difference I see between them is their shape is comprised of several revolves/extrusions/blends instead of one form. May or may not make a difference - I haven't really made any balusters so I'm not much help

edit: you can get a copy of the sample file here: http://seek.autodesk.com/product/loc.../Revit_ARC1853

It is made from two extrusions, one revolve, and two void forms, I joined all forms. Its the only way I could think of to create it so that the upper and lower part are square, a single revolve would have rounded out the top and bottom. I don't think that is the problem as I had it working as a baluster as long as it was hosted on stringer. Now I have fixed it so I can host it to anything its just the top part that is not showing and this is the part I cannot figure out. The object was created in the same way each time I did it so I don't see why it should not work.
